Notice of Casual Vacancy for Parish Councillor
NOTICE is hereby given of a Casual Vacancy in the office of Parish Councillor for Ramsden Crays Parish Council, by reason of the resignation of Cllr. Rebecca Bailey.
An election to fill this vacancy will be held if, by Friday 10th April 2026 a request in writing for such an election is made to the Returning Officer, Basildon Borough Council, The Basildon Centre, St Martin’s Square, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DL by ten electors of the Parish.
If no such request for an election is made, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

Becoming a Parish Councillor involves being active in the decisions made for our local community including planning, environment, roads and transport. No experience is necessary and training can be undertaken.
The Parish Council meets at 7pm on the second Monday of the month at the Shepherd & Dog Pub, London Road, Crays Hill.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and a British Citizen, or an eligible Commonwealth or EU Citizen. Applicants must also meet at least one of the following:
Be registered on the electoral roll.
Have occupied, as owner or tenant, land or other premises in the Parish during the whole of the last 12 months.
The main or only place of work during the last 12 months has been in the Parish.
Have lived in the Parish or within three miles of it during the whole of the past 12 months.)
